External Competitions
Tamar Trophy
10 black and white prints, not more than
two per member.
Liskeard/Ivybridge/Saltash Battle
8 prints (colour or black and white) 8
slides and 8 digital projected images, not more than five entries per member.
Gerry Trophy
12 digital projected images, not more than
two per member.
General Competition Rules
1. Entries
may be home or trade processed
2. Slides
must be presented in 2” x 2” mounts, spotted in the bottom left hand corner,
and titled.
3. Digital
projected images -
Maximum permitted size is 1400 x 1050 in
landscape mode. In portrait mode maximum height is 1050.
All files to be in JPEG format and at
maximum quality.
All images must be titled.
In addition, images put forward for
consideration by a Selection Committeee for external competitions should also have your Initials & surname
with the image title.
Images for Club competitions should not Include your name or initials in the
title.
Disks and memory sticks must contain only
the images to be submitted.
4. All
prints must be mounted.
Minimum size
for both Black and White and colour to be 6 x 4 inches. Titles for prints may either be on the mount
(front or back).
No name, signature or
identifying mark to be made on the front of the mount.
5. Entries
shall be eligible for TWO competitions only, ie any combination of Monthly
Merit and other internal competitions.
6. Wherever
possible an outside judge will be invited to decide annual competitions. If
this is not possible then judging will be by a competent club member or
members.
Club Competitions
Monthly
Merits
Competitors will not mark their own
entries. The Committee in advance of the publication of the programme will
decide the subject matter.
Monthly Merits will be divided into three
categories for which members may enter TWO entries in each, black and white, colour prints and projected
images. No entry to be more than two years old at the date of the
competition. Members will vote for their favourite image in each category. The
winning image (ie with the most votes) will receive 10 points, second place 7
points and 3rd place 5 points, but with all entries also getting 1 point for
entering. These
points are to be totalled up at the end of the season. The person with the highest
number of points will be deemed the winner of that category.
Monthly
Merits Open Competition
In addition to the Monthly Merit set
subject, an Open ‘own choice’
competition will be run alongside each MM competition. Open Competition Rules: Only one entry per member, to comprise a mounted
print up to A4 in size.
Colour
Print Trophy
THREE prints may be entered. Subject
matter is open and entries need not be related.
Exhibition
Cup for Black and White Prints
Members may submit FOUR prints. Subject matter
is open and entries need not be related. The Cup is awarded to the author of
the best individual print.
Annual
Projected Image Competition
Members may submit FOUR projected images,
slides or digital.. Subject matter is open and entries need not be related. Judging will be on the
basis of the BEST SET OF FOUR entered. In addition, the BEST SINGLE entry shall
be awarded the Exhibition Cup for Projected
Images.
Animal
Trophy
Members may submit THREE prints (colour or
mono). Subject matter need not be related but must depict the animal kingdom
(domestic or wild).
Portfolio
Trophy
FOUR prints not previously used of a related topic, colour or mono, mounted on
a single board. The size of the board to be determined by the member entering
the competition. Each Member can submit TWO
entries, each comprising of FOUR prints.
Most
Promising New Member
This shall be determined by the Committee
after considering the contributions made by new members (Ie those who have
joined since the start of the previous season) to all aspects of the Club
during the current season.
The
Peter Welsh Field trip Trophy
images for projection. All images must
have been taken during a field trip organised by the club (or by a club
member), and advertised to the entire
club membership. All Images must have
been taken during the 12 months prior to the competition date.
